Take me
with you

Exhibit by Tess KH Ma

For my first exhibit, it felt right to showcase what inspired me to pursue painting in the first place: moments in nature which my dogs brought me to, where they showed me the simple joy that splashing on the beach or running through the grass can bring.

Splashing at Repulse Bay

The contrast of shadow and light often makes a scene stick in my memory. That rare, fleeting moment when the light hits just right is something that I'm always trying to capture in my paintings.

Bright afternoons

This park might be familiar to dog lovers on Hong Kong island. Although it might be a common park, thinking of any afternoons we can spend there gives me a sense of nostalgia, of having the leisure time to spend with family or friends and our dogs there, without having to rush or think of the next thing to do.

Bright Afternoons

Available for purchase HK$10,200 Acrylic and oil on canvas panels (framed) 45 x 32.8 x 4 cm / 17.7 x 12.9 x 1.6 in each

Making waves

When I paint water, there is a calming, 'flow' feeling which is why it's so satisfying to paint. I hope that same feeling also comes across to you who is looking at this painting. Our dog Molly is also so full of life that I think including her in any painting automatically gives it energy and movement.

Making waves

Available for purchase HK$4,150 Acrylic and oil on canvas (framed) 32 x 38.8 x 3 cm / 12.6 x 15.3 x 1.2 in

Wait for me!

This is always what I see during hikes, especially uphill hikes - my dogs' butts flying off into the distance! The joy and excitement with which they approach any stairs or mountains always makes up for me having to climb those stairs or mountains.

Wait for me!

Available for purchase HK$4,800 Acrylic on canvas 25.4 x 20.3 cm / 10 x 8 in

View from Braemar Hill

This is a path I often walk with my dogs. It is everything we enjoy in a hike: beautiful views and not too many people or dogs, which I feel gives me the space to think or be more present on the walk.

Available for purchase HK$6,500 Acrylic on canvas 50 x 40 cm / 19.7 x 15.7 in

Having fun in different ways

When dogs play in a pack, all of their unique personalities become obvious. There are different things that they find fun or interesting, different things which they wait for, different things that they look for. But one thing they all have in common is that on this day, on this beach, they are always fully present and getting the most out of the moment. Something so simple for them but so difficult for us humans!
