Although I was born and raised in Hong Kong, I've always stuck to the urban parts of the city. I think of myself really beginning to experience the fullness of what Hong Kong offers since adopting 3 scruffy dogs a few years ago and exploring its beaches, mountains and greenery together.

Animals have such pure happiness from a simple thing like splashing in the waves or running through tall grass. As a human who worries over a dozen trivial things every day, I am able to forget for a while and experience these little joys through my dogs. Through my art, I’m always trying to capture that fleeting moment and bring it whoever happens to be looking.

 

I imagine most Hong Kongers are also too immersed in our busy streets and industrial buildings to remember this other side that the city offers. I hope that by bringing nature or these little moments of joy from our pets into people’s homes, it might be a nice little reminder of freedom or small joys in life.
